Pokemon Go is the latest game that has taken the world by storm. There are only two apps that are currently ruling the world. One as we already know is Pokemon Go while the other is the photo editing app called Prisma. Now the Pokemon Go game is fashioned on the TV series called Pokemon that used to come some years back. This cartoon show portrayed three friends one of which was Ash Ketchum, a Pokemon trainer. The show itself was an immense hit with all cartoon lovers worldwide and it made people aspire to be a gym trainer in real life. The game Pokemon Go brings this fantasy to life because players of this game have to work mostly like Pokemon gym trainers by roaming around the areas and localities in search of Pokemons, catching them when they are found and then involving in gym battles in order to increase their powers and move up the levels in the game. One good thing that this app has really done is that it has brought people out of their homes and get some exercise and fitness back by roaming around in search of Pokemons. However, third party apps have also come about in order to use the popularity of the game for their own incentives. So now it is very much possible to sit at home and catch Pokemons unlike what the game really aims to do. One of these third party apps that has developed a great fan following is Poke Where. Its popularity is mainly due to the fact that it combines two functionalities; one is the ability to locate Pokemons around a user’s area while it also has the ability to chat with other Pokemon trainers in the locality.
What is Poke Where?
Poke Where is crowdsourced and displays all the information that users input into it, it is an alternative to Pokemesh. There are two sides to this; the good side being that if the players of a locality are really cooperative then playing this game and catching Pokemons would become a breeze but on the other hand if they are selfish and malicious then they could also put up information which could mislead others and set them back in their games. This service, however, encourages honest and truthful inputs so that all players are benefited and the game runs smoothly all over and all around. By getting onto the web browser and directly typing on Poke Where, the website is opened and on the very homepage, it displays a map of the user’s location subject to zooming in and zooming out which the user controls. The user will get to see all the pokemons that are available nearby by zooming in to as close as a radius of 5 kilometres. As previously mentioned, this app combines the functionality of searching for Pokemons along with a chat messenger for Pokemon Go players so that trainers around a particular area can communicate with one another and thus enjoy the game more and also share useful information about Pokemons, Poke Stops, and other things.
The disconcerting thing is that recently the makers of Pokemon Go, Niantic Labs announced an update that blocks many third party apps and since Poke Where is also one of them the service may not be around for a long time. And an even bigger the problem is that along with the makers of Pokemon Go, Google has also taken up arms against third party software related to Pokemon Go. It is routinely deleting apps from its app store such that Pokemon Go, the official game, is the only thing that exists.
